Raid on Home of Mary Odili: IGP orders probe

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered an investigation into the raid on the home of Justice Mary Odili.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, the IGP was quoted as describing the invasion as “unacceptable”.

Mba said, the IGP has directed the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident, assuring the commitment of the Force to the safety and security of the members of the Judiciary and Nigerians in general.

The IGP called for calm, promising that the Force will do all within its powers to unravel the perpetrators and motives behind the breach with a view to bringing all indicted persons to book.

He further assured that the details of Police investigations would be made public on conclusion of investigations.

CSP Ajodo was reported to also be a member of the investigation team under the asset tax recovery panel of the ministry of Justice.

The Panel is also said to comprise of members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Police Force and the Ministry of Justice.

The Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa, have both denied authorising the search.
