Protesters in Rivers State Call President Tinubu the ‘Father of Protests’
In Rivers State, the second day of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, known as ’10 Days of Rage,’ saw demonstrators labeling President Bola Tinubu as the ‘father of protests’ in Nigeria. On Friday, protesters blocked the main entrance of the Federal Secretariat on Aba Road in Port Harcourt.
The protests, which began on Thursday, initially saw over 2,000 participants briefly besieging the federal secretariat before proceeding to Government House, where they were addressed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The action led to significant traffic disruptions along the Port Harcourt-Aba road, compelling motorists to seek alternative routes.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, arrived with a substantial security detail, including eight patrol vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), to negotiate with the protesters and alleviate the impact on major roads.
Some protesters accused President Tinubu of being a key figure behind the protests, suggesting he both sponsors and benefits from the unrest.
