Protesters Chased Away from Lagos Venue by Suspected Hoodlums
On Sunday, suspected hoodlums disrupted and chased away #EndBadGovernance protesters from Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos. This incident occurred shortly after some protest leaders withdrew following a national broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who called for dialogue.
While certain leaders agreed to suspend the demonstration on Sunday morning, a faction of the protesters chose to continue. According to an eyewitness account from one of the protesters, the disruption began when armed individuals suddenly appeared after some leaders had departed.
“The hoodlums just came from nowhere after some of our leaders had left. Those area boys were brandishing dangerous weapons, and we all had to run in different directions,” said the protester.
The protest, initially peaceful, was aimed at addressing issues of governance, but the sudden violence caused widespread panic and a swift dispersal of participants.
