Police Clash with #EndBadGovernance Protesters in Abuja Using Tear Gas, Live Ammunition
Police have violently confronted peaceful protesters in Abuja today during the #EndBadGovernance demonstration, which seeks to highlight the severe hardships faced by citizens under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Reports indicate that police operatives deployed tear gas and live ammunition against thousands of demonstrators who gathered in the Federal Capital Territory to voice their frustrations over poverty, unemployment, and escalating living costs. Eyewitness accounts describe scenes of chaos as protesters fled the onslaught of tear gas canisters in areas such as Jabi and Utako.
Protesters chanted slogans like “We are hungry” and carried banners that read, “Bad Governance has ended the dreams of Nigerian youths, end it now,” and “Enough is Enough – Revolution Now.” One participant lamented, “We are buying fuel for N1000, and you expect us not to come out and protest. What are we saying – we are hungry?”
