President Tinubu Appoints Olusegun Omosehin as NAICOM Boss, Announces Key Board Appointments
President Bola Tinubu has made a significant move in the insurance sector by appointing Olusegun Ayo Omosehin as the new Commissioner for Insurance at the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Omosehin’s appointment comes as a replacement for Olorundare Thomas, with Tinubu expressing confidence in his ability to lead the commission effectively.
In an official statement released on Friday, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced Tinubu’s additional appointments to the NAICOM board. Halima Kyari has been appointed as the chairperson, while Olawoye Gam-Ikon and Usman Ankara Jimadam will serve as Deputy Commissioners for Technical Operations and Finance & Administration respectively.
Furthermore, Miriam Kene Kachikwu, Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun, and Umar Khalifa Mohammed have been named as members of the board.
Ngelale emphasized that Tinubu expects the newly appointed NAICOM board to uphold the highest standards of integrity as they oversee the commission’s operations. Their primary mandate includes ensuring the safety, soundness, and stability of the insurance sector, safeguarding the interests of policyholders and the public, and enhancing trust and confidence in the industry.
Tinubu’s appointments signal a commitment to strengthening the regulatory framework of the insurance sector, a vital component of Nigeria’s financial system.
