Police Rescue Woman Found Unconscious, Tied in Abuja Hotel
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman from a suspected ritualist after she was found unconscious, with her hands and legs tied to a chair and her mouth taped shut, in a hotel bathroom in Wuse, Abuja.
Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident, stating that officers responded to a distress call from the hotel at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, identified as Promise Eze from Ebonyi State, in critical condition. She was immediately freed and rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where she was resuscitated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had checked into the hotel on Thursday morning with a man who identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State. However, during police questioning, Eze disclosed that she had met the suspect online, where he used the alias Michael Prince and claimed to be an oil company employee based in Delta State. After declining his initial invitation to Delta, she agreed to meet him in Abuja, unaware of the danger ahead.
According to the police statement, the suspect brandished a dagger to threaten and subdue Eze before tying her up and taping her mouth shut inside the bathroom. He then stole her two mobile phones and fled the scene. Before leaving, he was overheard making a phone call to suspected accomplices, informing them that he was on his way to regroup before returning to “finish the job.”
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has condemned the attack and assured the public that a full-scale manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspect. He urged residents, especially young women, to be cautious when meeting strangers and called on anyone with relevant information to contact the police via 08032003913 or 08107314192.
