Police Rescue Tricycle Operator, Arrest Three Armed Robbery Suspects in Anambra
Three suspected armed robbers have been arrested, and a stolen tricycle recovered, just hours after it was taken in Isuaniocha, Anambra State.
According to a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, at about 2:20 pm, when a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge by armed men who dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.
The statement said that police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad quickly responded to the distress call, rescuing the victim and rushing him to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
SP Ikenga added that, acting on technology-guided intelligence, operatives traced the suspects to Awarasi Village in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, and recovered the stolen tricycle. The suspects, who attempted to flee on sighting the police, were pursued and arrested. They have been identified as Kosisochukwu Nweke, 26; Emmanuel Eze, 24; and Osondu Ifeanyi, 20.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover further information about the suspects’ criminal activities, and they will be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
SP Ikenga reassured residents that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to combating crime and ensuring the safety of the public across the state.
