Police Rescue Passengers, Foil Kidnap Attempt on Kogi Road
The Kogi State Police Command has announced the successful prevention of an attempted abduction of passengers along the Kabba-Ayere Road. Officers from the 70 Squadron of the Police Mobile Force, Kabba, were credited with thwarting the incident following a swift response to a distress call on Friday.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP William Aya, reinforcements from the Sharper Corner pin-down team were quickly mobilized and dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the police engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle. Overpowered by the superior firepower of the police, the attackers fled into nearby bushes, abandoning their victims, who were safely rescued.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has since ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams to comb the surrounding area in a bid to apprehend the fleeing suspects. He also commended the officers involved for their prompt action and assured the public that the police remain committed to eliminating criminal activity across the state.
