Police Recover Projectiles in Borno, Avert Potential Explosion
Police in Borno State have successfully recovered three projectiles in the Dala Kafanti area of Maiduguri, effectively averting a potential explosion. The swift action followed a report from a resident, Asabe James, who spotted a suspicious sack containing unidentified items behind her house early on January 2, 2025.
Upon receiving the report at approximately 9:25 AM, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) team from the Borno Police Command promptly secured the area and retrieved the projectiles. Preliminary investigations revealed that the items had been dropped by unidentified persons earlier that morning.
The police also took the opportunity to educate residents on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) and safety measures to enhance community vigilance.
Borno State Police Commissioner Yusufu Mohammed Lawal commended the swift response and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety. Residents were urged to remain calm, report suspicious activities, and contact the authorities through provided emergency numbers.
Authorities emphasize vigilance and community cooperation in preventing threats to public safety while thanking citizens for their prompt reporting of potential hazards.
