Police Detain Husband Following ‘Mummy Be Calming Down’ Boy’s Mother’s Suicide
The heart-wrenching story behind the viral “mummy be calming down” video takes a tragic turn as Toluige Olokoobi, the mother of Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, the young boy who captured hearts with his plea for calm, has reportedly committed suicide.
In 2020, Oreofeoluwa’s endearing plea during a scolding from his mother captured global attention, igniting a wave of support and even inspiring Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s message of calm during the COVID-19 crisis in Lagos.
The young boy’s courage and poise led to a meeting with the governor and multiple media interviews, where he expressed his aspirations to become a police officer to combat corruption in Nigeria.
However, the recent devastating news surfaced as an individual reported Toluige’s tragic demise in Benin, citing her refusal to share her struggles before taking her own life.
The Edo state police confirmed Toluige’s passing and detained her husband for questioning, as he reported the incident upon discovering his wife’s lifeless body at their home.
This distressing turn of events has left three children, including the boy behind the viral video, without their mother.
The shocking loss of Toluige highlights the importance of mental health awareness and the significance of seeking support during times of distress. The tragic outcome of this situation has sent ripples of sorrow through social media, prompting reflections on the silent battles individuals might be facing.
