Police Arrest Woman with AK-47 and Magazines Concealed in Sack of Garri
Operatives from the Special Tactical Squad (STS) have apprehended a 30-year-old woman, Hauwa Yusuf, who was found concealing an AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines inside a sack of garri. The arrest took place along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a routine stop-and-search operation.
Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi reported that Yusuf was intercepted on August 14, 2024, while traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State in a Sienna bus. The search revealed the firearm and magazines hidden within the sack of garri.
Adejobi disclosed that Yusuf confessed to receiving the arms from Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit known for his activities in Katsina State. Yusuf was allegedly tasked with delivering the weapons to Danum Madam Camp in Katsina State.
The suspect is currently in custody, and further investigations are underway.
