One Dead, Two Injured as Suspected Kidnappers Attack Vehicle in Kogi State
One person has died and two others were injured following a suspected kidnapping attempt along the Ejule–Olamaboro Road in Kogi State. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on December 16 when a Toyota Corolla carrying passengers came under attack.
Security sources said the assailants reportedly opened fire on the driver while the vehicle was in motion, causing him to lose control and crash into a tree. Three passengers—Obinna Okoronkwo, Precious Okoronkwo, and Ochita Grant—were rescued by a patrol team. Obinna Okoronkwo, who suffered a head injury, was pronounced dead and his body taken to Iko Ojo Hospital Mortuary in Okpo.
Security forces have launched a manhunt for the suspected kidnappers, and ongoing intelligence and surveillance operations aim to bring the perpetrators to justice. Authorities have urged motorists and residents in the area to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
