Police Arrest Prophet for Allegedly Raping University Student
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed prophet, identified as Ajayi Oluwatoyin, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old 100-level student of Ekiti State University.
The State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, disclosed this during a media briefing in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, noting that the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.
According to Eribo, the suspect was apprehended in Iworoko-Ekiti following reports that he allegedly assaulted the student. The commissioner added that several other suspects were also arrested for various offences, including armed robbery, rape, and unlawful possession of firearms.
He revealed that two suspects, Bolaji Kazeem and Isa Sikirulahi, were caught at Isato area of Ado-Ekiti with a locally-made pistol loaded with a live cartridge and a battle axe while riding a TVS NEO motorcycle. A stolen motorcycle was later recovered from their hideout in Omisanjana.
Another suspect, identified as Abolaji Rasheed, popularly known as B.J., from Owena in Osun State, was arrested along Igbara Odo Road, Ogotun-Ekiti, while attempting to steal a motorcycle. His accomplices reportedly escaped arrest.
Eribo further stated that two men, Mohammed Jamiu and Ahmed, were apprehended for stealing a Toyota Cabster vehicle parked at Tipper Garage, Ijigbo area of Ado-Ekiti.
At Aramoko, police officers also arrested a suspect, Ajetomobi Ayomide, for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl multiple times and threatening to kill her if she exposed him.
The commissioner assured residents that the police remain committed to ensuring safety and justice across the state.
