Police Arrest 11 Men for Abusing and Impregnating Mentally Unstable 13-Year-Old Girl
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 11 men for allegedly sexually abusing and impregnating a 13-year-old girl in Tungar Giwa village, Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, July 19, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the arrests and said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects still at large. According to the police, the victim, identified as Sa’ima Dauda, who has a mental health condition, was repeatedly lured with cash ranging from ₦200 to ₦500 before being sexually exploited in various locations.
As a result of the abuse, the minor became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy on July 8, 2025. “Acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga arrested 11 suspects on July 13, 2025,” the statement read. “They are: Ibrahim Bakanike, Danladi Nauyi, Danjuma Meli, Ibrahim Dankura, Ibrahim Isiaka, Masta Maishayi, Bello Muhammad, Danjuma Kodo, Aminu Isah, Zayyanu Isah, and Ahmed Usman — all male residents of Tungar Giwa village, Shanga LGA.”
The statement further explained that all the suspects took advantage of the victim’s condition and admitted to having carnal knowledge of her during the preliminary investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, to intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation. He also reiterated the Command’s commitment to pursuing justice for victims of gender-based violence and ensuring swift action in such cases across the state.
