Plateau Governor sacks six aides, suspends commission chairman

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dismissed six political appointees and suspended one official, in a move his administration says is aimed at improving governance in Plateau State.

The decision was announced on Tuesday in a statement by Samuel Jatau, secretary to the state government.

According to the statement, those removed from office include Timothy Golu, special adviser on strategic communication, as well as several liaison officers: Fom Gwottson (Jos South), Nanbol Rimvyat and Nannim Langyi (Langtang North), Paul Datugum (Qua’an Pan), and Nimchat Rims (Langtang South).

In a related development, the governor approved the suspension of Johnbull Shekarau, chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, over allegations of conduct deemed inconsistent with the standards of his office.

No specific reasons were provided for the dismissal of the six appointees. However, the government said the action forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen efficiency and service delivery.

The affected officials have been directed to hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.

The administration expressed appreciation for their service and wished them well in their future pursuits.
