“Peter Obi is working for Tinubu” – Adeyanju alleges amid 2027 political tensions
As Nigeria’s political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections, activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has alleged that Peter Obi is politically aligned with President Bola Tinubu.
Adeyanju made the statement on X, where he also criticised opposition politicians for failing to build a unified front, describing them as ineffective and disconnected from the realities of the country.
He wrote: “Peter Obi is working for Tinubu. The opposition leaders in Nigeria are the most useless in Africa. They are too irresponsible. For Nigeria to still have a divided opposition in 2026 after what happened to this country in the last 3 years is a huge shame.”
He further argued that the opposition’s lack of cohesion undermines Nigeria’s political progress, adding that key political actors are not acting in the national interest.
“These guys are sworn enemies of Nigeria. Tinubu is not even playing at all. Can you imagine,” he added.
The remarks come as reports indicate continued political realignments involving Peter Obi, who recently moved from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alongside former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, as preparations intensify for the 2027 election cycle.
In the 2023 presidential election, Obi contested under the Labour Party, while Tinubu ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which secured victory.
