Obi only wanted the ticket, showed no interest in our manifesto — ADC spokesperson

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has accused former presidential candidate Peter Obi of failing to engage with the party’s manifesto during his time with the ADC.

Abdullahi made the remarks on Monday during a Prime Time interview on Arise Television, while reacting to recent political developments surrounding Obi’s defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the ADC devoted considerable time and effort to developing its policy framework but did not receive meaningful input from Obi.

“We set up a manifesto committee that worked for about two to three months to develop a document that clearly outlines what we will do differently,” Abdullahi said.

He questioned Obi’s understanding of the party’s position on key national issues, including fuel subsidy and security.

“You may invite him and ask, what is the ADC position on fuel subsidy? What is the ADC framework on security? He doesn’t know, because he’s never been interested,” he said.

Abdullahi added that some politicians focus primarily on securing party nominations rather than engaging with policy direction.

“They are just waiting for the tickets to be handed to them. If you say you want to contest election, and you believe in changing the country, you should know what your party stands for,” he said.
