Peter Obi is a Packaged Fraud, Like Buhari – Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, convener of #RevolutionNow, has launched a scathing critique against Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, labeling him a “packaged fraud” in a recent interview with Pulse Nigeria.

Sowore compared Obi’s portrayal during the 2023 election to the All Progress Congress’s (APC) 2015 portrayal of Muhammadu Buhari. He argued that both campaigns involved deceptive tactics aimed at misleading voters. “What is true is that I have a general disdain for the dishonesty of Nigerian politicians,” Sowore remarked. “Whenever anybody then comes up as a politician or who wants to run Nigeria, they come with this fraudulent packaging.”

Sowore detailed his longstanding opposition to various political figures, asserting, “My position about Peter Obi has been consistent in the same way my position about [President Bola] Tinubu has been consistent.” He highlighted his past efforts in exposing corruption, including Tinubu’s alleged drug history and Atiku Abubakar’s corruption scandals, through his platform Sahara Reporters.

Specifically targeting Obi, Sowore accused him of investing state money in private ventures and building substandard hospitals during his tenure as governor of Anambra State. He also alleged that Obi was involved in various financial malpractices, claims that have been documented on Sahara Reporters.

Sowore criticized the fervent support for Obi, drawing parallels to the public’s previous support for Buhari. “People loved Buhari too until his tenure killed their parents. Some families were wiped out,” he stated, underscoring the consequences of misplaced trust in politicians.

He urged the public to scrutinize political figures and resist emotional attachment to their personas. “If we tell you that we know Peter Obi and that he is not what he is presented to be, and you say you must impose these on Nigeria, and we say no, we don’t accept that,” Sowore asserted.

In closing, Sowore condemned the endorsement of Obi by notable figures like Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida, reiterating that these endorsements further validate his claims of fraudulent representation.
