PDP Sweeps Enugu LG Elections, Wins All 17 Chairmanship Seats
The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has officially announced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the chairmanship elections held across all 17 local government areas of Enugu State on Saturday.
ENSIEC Chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, reported on Sunday that the elections were conducted transparently and fairly. He emphasized the Commission’s diligence in collating and analyzing results to eliminate errors, stating, “We carefully collated and analysed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.”
Notably, none of the opposition candidates were present at the ENSIEC Collation Centre during the announcement of the results.
In a statement following his victory, Greg Amyaegbudike, the newly elected chairman for Oji River local government, pledged to prioritize youth empowerment. He committed to creating job opportunities for employable youths and organizing skills acquisition programs to benefit the community.
“I’ll make sure that the youth of Oji River are gainfully employed. Those who are employable will definitely get employed,” Amyaegbudike affirmed.
