#EdoDecides2024: PDP Rejects Results as Edo Governorship Collation Passes 10 LGAs

Tensions continue to rise in the Edo State governorship election as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the results from Egor and Akoko-Edo Local Government Areas, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner.

Osagbovo Iyoha, the PDP collation agent, expressed strong objections, citing alleged irregularities in the process. He claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) manipulated the results in favor of the APC and relocated the collation center away from its designated venue at the council headquarters. According to Iyoha, the PDP had actually won in Egor but was denied victory when APC was announced as the winner.

In Akoko-Edo, Iyoha further alleged that the announced votes exceeded those recorded by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), suggesting possible manipulation. He also claimed that PDP agents were locked out of the collation process, leaving only APC representatives present.

In response, Jarret Tenabe, acting chairman of the APC, dismissed the allegations, stating that the results reflected the true will of the people. He emphasized that any issues raised during the collation were addressed, and the declared figures matched those captured by the BVAS.

As the collation process continues at the INEC headquarters in Benin City, supporters from both parties are anxiously awaiting the final results.
