PDP State Exco Decision to Suspend State Secretary and three others still stands – Engr Adedeji Doherty, PDP State Chairman
The Chairman, People’s Democratic Party PDP Lagos State Chapter, Engr Adedeji Doherty has dismissed reports making the rounds that he has voluntarily resigned as the State Chairman.
He described the Information as released by the erstwhile Publicity Secretary Taofik Gani as frivolous, deceitful and only a figment of the imagination of detractors.
You would recall that Mr Gani had granted an interview to Daily Independent Newspaper where he had lied that the State Chairman had voluntarily resigned.
The Newspaper has however done a counter release quoting the Chairman as saying “I Remain Lagos PDP Chairman”.
In the same vein, Engr Doherty described the comments of the State legal adviser as unfortunate and unprofessional.
The legal adviser had made a statement on social media describing himself as the custodian of the constitution of the party and stating that the decision to suspend the 3 members of the Exco was null and void.
The Chairman called the attention of the legal adviser to the fact that, the state executive committee remains the custodian of the constitution and the powers to take decisions as contained in the party constitution do no reside in his office as the legal adviser but solely in the hands of the executive committee.
The Chairman further stated that the legal adviser should realise that he is only an adviser to the state executive committee and he has only one vote.
He further called his attention to the fact that he seldom comes to meetings and even when he comes, he is always late.
Engr Doherty described the legal adviser’s action as unethical, against all rules of professionalism and shows categorically that he is not in sync with the state executive committee.
The Chairman further informed that the fact that majority of the members of the executive committee have authenticated the decision to suspend the State Secretary, the State Publicity Secretary and an Ex-Officio Member gives the decision credence and that the decision still stands.
He however stated that the executive committee would await the decision of the Disciplinary committee, before it’s next line of action.
Engr Adedeji Doherty concluded by saying ” I never resigned and I am not thinking of resigning. I pledge my utmost loyalty to the party and I advise progressive minded party faithfuls to remain peaceful and resolute in this bid to revamp the party.”
