Hon Oghene Emma Egoh, the member representing Amuuwo-Odofin federal constituency in the House of Representatives, turns a year older, as he also soldiers on to his greater success when he leads the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to victory for the third time come the 2023 general elections.
Hon. Egho, a prince of Ugheli in Delta State and two-term member of the Green Chamber from Lagos since 2015, turned a year older Sunday, October 30th. He’s having his third shot on the federal parliament as the PDP candidate for his constituency.
In a birthday message e-signed on his behalf by Mr. Muka Popoola, head of DD Media Team, immediate past chairman of the Lagos PDP, Engr. Adedeji Doherty extolled the virtues of Hon. Oghene describing him as a true Nigerian parliamentarian and soldier of democracy in the Lagos political sphere.
Doherty declared that Hon. Egho’s towering image and popular acceptability to the Amuwo-Odofin electorate, which earned him victory back-to-back in two consecutive elections over the ruling APC in Lagos State makes him an invaluable asset to PDP in the state, and someone who the national leadership must keep their eyes on.
He said Hon. Egho, by his successful political exploits in Lagos, a South West state of Yorubaland, had distinguished himself as a true Nigerian whose politics transcends the limiting factors of discriminatory boundaries of tribal and religious sectionalism that have been the bane of Nigeria’s nationhood and general development.
Doherty noted that the occasion of Hon. Egho’s birthday anniversary had brought the opportunity for him to personally celebrate the legislator as a reliable friend and confidante.
A strong ally of Hon. Egho in the Lagos PDP, Doherty said his closeness with the man he calls the *“generalisimo of Amuwo-Odofin politics”* had broadened his own scope too about managing human dynamics in politics and general life experiences.
“My friend Hon. Oghene is rising as an enigma in the politics of Lagos State. Although a non-indigene in Lagos, he’s a great bridge builder and he understands very well the diverse nature of his constituents which is an admixture of both Yoruba and non-Yoruba citizens. He’s good mixer and he interacts very well with people without any feeling of tribal differences. That’s why he’s always beaten the candidate of the ruling party at elections in the state, says Doherty, recalling the vicious efforts the ruling APC made but finally failed to rig him out of the two past elections.
Doherty remarked that it was his collaboration with Hon. Egho together with other well-meaning leaders and his two other colleagues currently representing the Lagos PDP in the House of Reps, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa and Hon. Olatunji Soyinka, both of Ojo and Surulere consistencies respectively, that served as his stabilising force against virulent opponents within the party during the turbulent two years of his reign as State Chairman of the Lagos PDP.
He said that the unflinching support of the trio of Hon. Egho, Obasa and Soyinka and their dedicated followers inspired the evolution of the Unity Freedom Group (UFG), which he has had the privilege of managing as the convener in the interest of all the collaborating leaders of the group.
Felicitating with Hon. Egho on his new age, Doherty added that he and the generality of the Lagos PDP were looking forward to congratulating the legislator on his victory at the forthcoming 2023 election, as he prays that God shall give him the enablement to flog the rival APC candidate yet again.
