PDP National Secretary Petitions SSS, Alleges Forgery of His Signature on Convention Document
The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has petitioned the State Security Service (SSS), alleging that some officials of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) forged his signature on an official document related to the party’s upcoming national convention.
In three separate petitions dated October 15, 2025, and addressed to INEC, the SSS, and the Nigeria Police Force, Anyanwu demanded a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved in what he described as a “criminal act.”
The petitions referred to a letter with reference number PDP/DOM/GF.2/Vol.1M/25-140, dated August 25, 2025, purportedly signed by Anyanwu and sent to INEC regarding the PDP’s elective national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025.
Anyanwu stated that he neither authorised nor signed the letter, describing it as shocking that his signature could be cloned and affixed to an official party communication. “Regrettably, the quoted letter was never signed, authorised, or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter. I, therefore, request that this criminal conduct by officers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their collaborators within INEC be investigated and the culprits prosecuted,” he wrote in his petition.
Each of the petitions, obtained by *Peoples Gazette* and acknowledged between October 15 and 16, included a copy of the alleged forged document as evidence.
The incident comes as the PDP intensifies preparations for its 2025 elective national convention amid reports of internal rifts within the opposition party. Anyanwu said his move was intended to protect the integrity of the PDP and ensure that all official communications issued in its name remain genuine and transparent.
