PDP/Atiku issue formal complaint as Bulkachuwa mysteriously halts presidential election tribunal with refusal to appoint replacement
The legal team of the PDP/Atiku tribunal hearing has issued a formal complaint to the president of the court of appeal Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.
They raised concerns about the snail pace of the tribunal noting that 74 days out of the 180 in which the tribunal must hear and determine the petition has already elapsed with little or no progress made at the tribunal.
They noted that a week after reluctantly recusing herself from the case, Justice Bulkachuwa is yet to nominate a replacement and has such has effectively stalled proceedings.
Curiously Bulkachuwa, who only recused herself after weeks of protest, as appeal court president, is responsible for appointing her own replacement.
The PDP/Atiku legal team also noted that they had not been served with any notices of hearing since she recused herself and expressed worry that the delays could harm their chances to receive a fair hearing.
