Pastor Chris Okafor apologises publicly to actress Doris Ogala, kneels before congregation
Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, on Sunday publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, kneeling before his congregation as he asked for forgiveness over what he described as past mistakes.
The apology follows days of intense public controversy after Ogala accused the pastor of having an affair with her, promising marriage, sharing explicit content, and later offering her $10,000 to withdraw claims that she was hired by rival pastors to damage his reputation.
In a video that circulated widely on social media on Sunday, Okafor addressed worshippers from the pulpit, saying he did not intend to escalate the dispute.
“Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody,” he said.
He went on to mention Ogala by name. “I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also. I apologise to everyone that I’ve offended.”
Okafor said he was willing to make amends, adding that he was prepared to offer restitution to anyone he had wronged. “I am not perfect. I’ve never been perfect,” he said.
The pastor then knelt before the congregation, asking for forgiveness and prayers. The gesture drew audible reactions from church members present.
Despite the apology, Okafor maintained that some of the allegations against him were untrue. He said several of the claims circulating online contained “many lies.”
Ogala responded shortly after during an Instagram Live session, stating that she accepted his apology but rejected his assertion that her accusations were false.
“Chris Okafor, I forgive you, but I have a problem with where you said everything is a lie. I don’t lie,” she said.
The dispute began earlier this month after Ogala alleged that Okafor promised to marry her and played a role in the collapse of her previous relationship. The claims resurfaced following reports that the pastor had married another woman, identified as Pearl, in a ceremony held earlier in the week.
Ogala has said the relationship with Okafor began around 2017 and lasted several years. She accused him of emotional manipulation and abandoning her after she made significant personal decisions based on his promises.
Okafor had initially dismissed the accusations and said he would allow legal authorities to handle the matter. However, the continued public attention and Ogala’s repeated statements appear to have led to his decision to address the issue publicly.
