Osun Police Arrest Eight for Removing Teen’s Scrotum, Crack Down on Other Crimes
Police in Osun State have arrested eight people in connection with the brutal mutilation of a 16-year-old boy in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area. The state police command confirmed on Monday that the suspects are in custody and will face prosecution over the July 26 attack, in which the victim’s scrotum was removed. Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said three of the suspects, residents of Apomu, went to the Arademi area of Ikire to work on farmland when two of them allegedly lured the teenager into a nearby bush. There, they cut open his abdomen in an apparent attempt to harvest vital organs but fled after taking his scrotum when the boy raised an alarm. The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment and later transferred to University College Hospital in Ibadan.
Ojelabi said the arrests followed a swift investigation. He also confirmed other arrests in separate incidents across the state in July. On July 30, two suspected cult members believed to operate around Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, were apprehended near the school. In another case, a man was arrested for robbing a victim of an iPhone 11 in Oke Baale, Osogbo, while another suspect was caught with a cut-to-size gun after being stopped on a motorcycle in Sedona, Ede. Police also detained a man accused of stealing a motorcycle from a mosque. All suspects, according to the command, will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
