Onanuga Labels Peter Obi ‘Bitter’ Amidst Allegations of Demarketing Nigeria
Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has voiced allegations against former presidential candidate Peter Obi, suggesting that Obi’s recent actions have contributed to the demarketing of Nigeria. On Monday, Onanuga took to his X handle to express this sentiment, sharing a post by Nwachukwu Chigozie @chigozie0102 that criticized Obi’s activities.
In the post, Chigozie referred to Obi as the ‘chief mourner’, asserting that Obi had traveled to Canada and engaged in activities that negatively portrayed Nigeria. Chigozie’s post described how Obi, clad in his customary mourning attire, allegedly engaged in demarketing efforts while in Canada, prompting the mayor of the town to counter with praise for Nigeria, particularly Lagos. The post suggested that Obi, despite his purported bitterness, eventually joined in applauding the mayor.
The context for these accusations appears to stem from Obi’s recent visit to Canada, during which he reportedly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its handling of the last presidential election. Obi also expressed frustration with what he perceives as character attacks and town hall meetings organized against him by the current administration and its agencies.
In response, Onanuga shared Chigozie’s post on his personal X handle, captioning it with the phrase “Bitter Obi.”
