Ogun Police Declare Portable Wanted Over Violent Attack on Government Officials

The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, wanted over an alleged violent attack on government officials performing their duties.

According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025. Three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were carrying out an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, when they encountered an elderly man later identified as Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar.

Odutola stated that after the officials identified themselves and requested the approved building plan, Portable’s father informed them that his son was unavailable. Shortly afterward, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene, armed with a firearm and other weapons, and led a group of nine thugs in a violent attack on the officials. The enforcement officers sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, which escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Following the attack, nine accomplices were arrested while Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding. Despite multiple invitations, the singer has reportedly refused to appear at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. As a result, the police obtained a court order declaring him wanted.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public to provide any information that may lead to Portable’s arrest. The police warned that anyone found aiding or harbouring the singer would face legal consequences. Reports can be made to the nearest police station or through the command’s official communication channels.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago, nine of Portable’s associates were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, for allegedly assaulting officers of the Ota Zonal Planning Office. The accused—Nurudeen Warris, Adetola Alashe, Samuel Adeleke, Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, Oluwapelumi Adeosun, Gospel Kanu, Precious Ohiegebo, Ifeoluwa Babatunde, and Fatimo Muhammed—were charged with felony, assault, armed confrontation, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
