Ogun Musician Arrested for Alleged Defilement of Lover’s Daughter
In a disturbing incident, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, apprehended 35-year-old musician Odewale Iseoluwa Akinleye for the alleged defilement of his lover’s 16-year-old daughter.
Akinleye was publicly paraded at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta on Thursday following his arrest. The arrest was made based on a report received by the Anti-Human Trafficking Irregular Migration and Gender Unit of the command.
Dyke Ogbonnaya, the command’s spokesman, provided details on the investigation. “On Monday, the 4th of December 2023, the Anti-Human Trafficking Irregular Migration and Gender Unit received a matter which was transferred from the Ofada/Mokoliki division of the command, involving one Odewale Iseoluwa Akinleye, male, 35 years (suspect) and a victim (female) of 16 years of age, name withheld.”
Ogbonnaya emphasized the involvement of family members in reporting the matter and praised the swift action of the command’s officers in apprehending the suspect. “On investigation, he confessed to the crime and would be charged to court,” he added.
The command’s spokesman issued a cautionary statement to parents, specifically mothers, urging them to exercise vigilance when interacting with men in the presence of their female children, emphasizing the potential negative impact on the well-being of the children.
In a chilling revelation, Akinleye, who identified himself as a musician and drummer, confessed to having been in a relationship with the victim’s mother before she traveled to Israel in 2017. He admitted to administering lime to the victim after the alleged assault to prevent pregnancy.
This shocking incident underscores the importance of vigilance and raises concerns about child protection within familial relationships. The suspect is expected to face legal consequences as the case progresses through the court system.
