JUST IN: Former State First Lady Dies at 100
Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, wife of former Ogun State Governor Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, has passed away at the age of 100.
In a statement on Tuesday, the family said, “With deep regret, but with gratitude to Almighty God, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Chief (Mrs) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo (1925–2026), who was called to glory on Monday, 11 January.”
The statement highlighted her “fulfilled life and legacy of love, strength, and faith” and included prayers for the repose of her soul.
Chief (Mrs) Onabanjo was married to Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, the first civilian governor of Ogun State during Nigeria’s Second Republic, serving from October 1979 to December 1983.
Details of funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
