Security operatives in Ogun State have successfully tracked down and apprehended six individuals suspected of involvement in the recent outbreak of violence in Sagamu. This unsettling incident occurred at the official residence of a member of the state House of Assembly during the weekend.
The key figure in this case is the lawmaker representing Sagamu State Constituency 1, Mr. Damilare Mohammed. Allegations have surfaced indicating that he provided refuge to these cultists who were on the run following the outbreak of violence.
Acting swiftly on a credible tip-off, a dedicated team of security personnel conducted a meticulous sting operation which led to the arrests of these suspects within the premises of Mr. Damilare Mohammed.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Damilare Mohammed, known as “DRE,” Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade. Currently, they are undergoing rigorous interrogation at the Department of State Service (DSS) office.
Sources close to the investigation have disclosed that a cache of dangerous weapons, including firearms, was seized from the suspects.
This isn’t the first time Damilare Mohammed has attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies. He was previously apprehended by the DSS for his alleged involvement in orchestrating a violent protest that occurred in February of this year in Sagamu. This protest was linked to the controversial naira redesign policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and resulted in the vandalism of approximately 10 banks and other vital public infrastructure by agitated youths.
The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the extent of involvement of the arrested individuals in the recent outbreak of violence and their connection to Mr. Damilare Mohammed. The situation continues to unfold, and authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
