Obaseki’s Victory Testament to The Internal Democracy Within PDP – Ortom
Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has hailed the emergence of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), flag bearer for the September 19 gubernatorial election in the state.
Ortom in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, on Friday, said Obaseki’s victory is an indication of the internal democracy within the PDP.
“Obaseki’s victory in the peaceful and transparent primaries affirms the internal democracy within PDP and the party’s capacity to provide greater development to Edo people under the present administration.”
He said he hoped that “Governor Obaseki will maximize the goodwill and confidence Edo people have in him and continue to selflessly serve them in the next four years.”
The Governor called on people of the state to sustain their support for Obaseki to enable him to succeed.
Ortom suffered similar fate as Obaseki when he fell out with his godfather, a former Governor of the state and the Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, prompting his defection to the PDP on whose platform he was re-elected for a second term in office in 2019.
