Obaseki: Legacy Group Sponsored by Opposition, PDP Will Prevail Without Them
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State is gearing up for the September 21 governorship election with the inauguration of a 363-member campaign council. Led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, the event saw a direct confrontation with the Legacy Group, led by Dan Orbih, whom Obaseki described as lacking direction. Accusations flew as Obaseki claimed the group was influenced by opposition elements and vowed that the PDP could win without them.
Obaseki emphasized party unity, urging against division fueled by external interests and financial inducements from rival parties. He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to secure victory, promising that the campaign council would secure a substantial portion of the votes.
The campaign council, strategically composed to include representation from all 192 wards across the state, aims for comprehensive mobilization and support. Matthew Iduoriyekenmwen, the council’s Director-General, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged unwavering dedication to securing victory in September.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, pledged to build upon Obaseki’s achievements in various sectors, affirming his commitment to the party’s vision for the state’s progress.
With tensions rising in the run-up to the election, the inauguration of the campaign council signals a crucial phase in the PDP’s bid for electoral success, setting the stage for an intense contest in the coming months.
