No Presidential Aspirant Possesses My Distinctive Background – Obi
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has asserted that none of the current presidential contenders possess his distinctive background or blend of experience. Speaking during an interview with Arise Television on Monday, June 9, the former Governor of Anambra State reaffirmed his dedication to national development, emphasizing that his track record sets him apart.
“I’m committed to a better Nigeria, and I have what it takes,” Obi stated. “I have the experience of all those who want to be president today. Nobody has my background. I built a business from the ground up in this country. I’ve worked in the corporate world, and I’ve been a governor. I transformed one of the smallest banks into a N25 billion institution.”
Obi pointed to his record of fiscal discipline during his tenure as governor, stressing that he left the Anambra State Government with savings and without accruing debt. “I served as governor and left office without owing anyone. I believe I saved more money than any other governor. Since leaving office, I’ve not received any pension or gratuity from the state. Not even a bottle of water has been given to me,” he said.
In a bid to further demonstrate his transparency and integrity, Obi challenged the authorities to seize any land allegedly allocated to him by the Anambra State Government.
