Falana Reveals Those Benefiting from Tinubu Administration
Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana has stated that the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration primarily benefit the wealthy, while the majority of Nigerians continue to struggle. In an interview with Channels Television on Monday, Falana said that the living standards of ordinary citizens have worsened since the president took office.
His comments come as senior members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrate Tinubu’s second year in office, with some officials claiming that the country is on a path to progress. Falana dismissed these claims, noting that only top government officials and the rich are seeing any improvement.
“For members of the government—and I’m talking of top officials—it’s been very rosy. One of them was singing a week ago that things are getting better. Of course, for the rich, the bourgeoisie, things are getting better. But for the masses of our people, things are getting tougher because they are going through an excruciating economic crisis,” he said.
Falana pointed to key policy decisions, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the foreign exchange windows, as measures that have hurt the general population while benefiting a select few.
