The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it is reviewing a consensus model for selecting its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this during an interview on Arise TV. He said the party is weighing either direct primaries or a negotiated consensus, noting that indirect primaries are no longer permitted under the amended Electoral Act.

According to him, cost remains a major factor shaping the discussion, with consensus seen within the party as the most practical option at this stage.

In parallel developments, supporters of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, operating under the Village Boys Movement, are pushing for his emergence as the ADC’s presidential candidate.

The group said it has coordinated what it described as a “2 Million Man March and ADC Registration Drive” across several states, including Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Plateau, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi and Edo.

In a statement signed by its leader, Tochukwu Ezeoke, the movement said the exercise was aimed at expanding Obi’s support base within the ADC and encouraging new party registrations.

It added that the mobilisation would be rolled out in phases across different regions, with the goal of consolidating public backing into a structured political network ahead of the 2027 elections.
