“Nigerians Are Angry and Hungry, Tinubu Must Act Fast” – APC Chieftain Warns
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the escalating hunger and economic hardship plaguing Nigerians.
Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker emphasized the need for immediate and more impactful measures to alleviate the suffering of the masses, which has been worsened by skyrocketing food prices, fuel hikes, and rising costs of essential services such as electricity and cooking gas.
While acknowledging President Tinubu’s efforts to ease the hardship, Mr. Oyintiloye stressed the need for a faster approach, urging the administration to cut through bureaucratic delays that are slowing down policy implementation.
“Nigerians are hopeful for a positive turnaround, but the measures must be accelerated,” he said. “The economic hardship is becoming unbearable, and the President must act fast. Nigerians are starving.”
Mr. Oyintiloye also criticized the delay in implementing the suspension of customs duties and taxes on imported food items, a policy intended to combat rising food inflation. Despite assurances from the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, that the directive would be implemented promptly, nearly two months have passed without action.
“The President has shown his commitment to alleviating the suffering of Nigerians, but those responsible for executing these policies should not become obstacles. The masses are angry and hungry, and swift action is necessary,” he added.
In closing, Oyintiloye appealed to Nigerians for continued support of President Tinubu’s administration, expressing confidence that the current policies, though painful, would yield long-term benefits for the country.
