“We’ll Receive Bala Mohammed — He’s Ready to Work With Us,” Bauchi APC Says

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State say they are prepared to receive Governor Bala Mohammed into the party, following indications that he is willing to work with members across all levels.

The development comes amid ongoing consultations over Mohammed’s planned defection. Earlier this week, party stakeholders cautioned the APC’s national leadership against excluding them from negotiations, stressing the need for inclusiveness in the process. A committee was subsequently formed to present their position formally.

On Wednesday, the governor hosted APC members of the House of Representatives from Bauchi at his Abuja residence, in what participants described as part of continuing engagements.

Speaking after a follow-up meeting of stakeholders in Abuja, Dabo Ismail, who represents Toro federal constituency, said the caucus had agreed to support the governor’s entry into the party.

He noted that consultations with Mohammed were aimed at aligning with the policy direction of the current administration and strengthening the party ahead of future elections. According to him, key figures in the APC leadership have also encouraged the governor to join.

Ismail added that stakeholders were assured that the process would be handled fairly, with no member disadvantaged. He said Mohammed had expressed readiness to collaborate with party members and emphasized that discussions would continue.

Former Bauchi governor Isa Yuguda described the move as a step toward greater unity, stressing that electoral success remains the party’s central objective. He urged members to close ranks and work collectively ahead of upcoming elections.

Also commenting, Jafaru Leko said the consultations were designed to ensure inclusiveness and protect the interests of party members.

Stakeholders indicated that further engagements would be held as the process of Mohammed’s planned defection continues.
