Nigerian Navy Announces Death of Chief of Operations
The Nigerian Navy has announced the death of its Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Musa Katagum.
Katagum, a senior officer with decades of service, previously served as Chief of Naval Intelligence. The Navy said his work played a key role in strengthening maritime security operations in recent years.
In a statement issued by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the late officer was described as a committed professional whose career was defined by discipline, leadership and service to national security.
According to the statement, Rear Admiral Katagum demonstrated strong strategic direction and loyalty to the Navy’s mission throughout his career. His contributions, the Navy noted, had a lasting impact on operational planning and execution.
The Navy extended condolences to his family, colleagues and associates, noting that he died after a prolonged illness. He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
