Nigerian Government Takes Swift Action to Alleviate Hardship: 42,000 Metric Tons of Grains to be Distributed Across States
In a bid to address the ongoing hardships faced by citizens, the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has approved the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains across all 36 states of the federation. The announcement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who assured the public of the government’s commitment to their well-being during these challenging times.
Senator Kyari revealed that the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of State Service (DSS), is set to initiate the distribution this week. The aim is to ensure that the grains reach the intended recipients in the correct packages and quantities.
Additionally, the minister shared that 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from mega rice millers will be released into the market to contribute to stabilization efforts. Senator Kyari acknowledged the severity of the situation, especially following incidents of foodstuff warehouse looting, and expressed compassion for those affected.
He stated, “Amidst these challenges, I want to assure you that our commitment to your well-being remains resolute. We shall commence the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains, as approved by Mr. President, across the 36 states of the federation as one of the programs to be rolled out this week.”
The government’s proactive approach aims to address immediate concerns related to food security and provide relief to citizens facing hardships across the nation.
