The Federal Government is putting in place measures to sustain the peak generation ever achieved in the electricity industry for the socio-economic wellbeing of Nigerians.
The Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, stated this during a tour of the National Control Centre in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The National Control Centre is the operational nucleus of the Nigerian electric power grid.
Located in Osogbo, it is responsible for all activities related to system operational planning, network data acquisition, real time grid and management.
The Minister of Power is on a tour of the control centre in Osogbo to know what is on the ground and come up with the best strategies to maintain the success recorded.
He used the opportunity to announce the acheivement of the ministry particularly on power generation.
The Minister said the grid generation installed capacity has increased to 13,014 megawatt due to synchronization of Dadin-Kowa Hydro power plant.
The Acting General Manager of the National Control Centre identified aged equipment, poor maintenance culture, and vandalization of power equipment as causes of erratic power supply.

The Minister earlier held a meeting with the management team of the National control centre in Osogbo to discuss some challenges being faced by the centre.
