“Ndi Igbo Made a Huge Mistake in 2023,” Agbakahi Says South-East Is Shifting Towards APC

The Coordinator of the President Bola Tinubu Support Group, George Agbakahi, says political sentiment in Nigeria’s South-East is changing, with many residents reassessing their choices in the 2023 general elections.

Agbakahi made the remarks on Friday during an appearance on *The Morning Show* on Arise Television, where he said a growing number of people in the region now believe their voting pattern in the last election was a mistake.

“We in the South-East believe that we made a huge mistake in the last election in 2023. So, we now know the place to go. The place to go is APC. Majority of southeasterners, they believe in APC,” he said.

He added that there is increasing interest in the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflected in stronger participation in party activities across the region.

Citing the recent APC zonal congress in Enugu, Agbakahi described the turnout as a sign of growing momentum.

“If you were in Enugu two days ago during the zonal congresses, it was filled with enthusiasm. It was filled with joy. Too many stakeholders, too many party faithfuls, even non-APC members attended that event. It was an awesome one,” he said.

Agbakahi also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as progress in infrastructure and industrial development, particularly in the South-East.

“The President has done a whole lot for Nigerians, and more especially in the South-East. Are you talking about road construction? Are you talking about industrialisation? He has done a whole lot,” he said.

He further noted that some governors in the region have expressed support for the President’s policies despite belonging to different political parties.

He cited Charles Soludo and Alex Otti as examples, saying their positions reflect a broader alignment with the administration’s agenda.

Agbakahi said these developments point to a wider political realignment in the South-East as the region looks ahead to future elections.
