“I’m Not the One in the Video — He Is My Brother,” Asari Dokubo Says of Lookalike Criticising Tinubu

Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo has denied being the man seen in a widely circulated video criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, clarifying that the individual is his brother.

The video, which gained traction across social media platforms, shows a man bearing a strong resemblance to Dokubo delivering a sermon-like message while calling on the president to step down over economic hardship. In the clip, the speaker raises concerns about rising fuel prices and the increasing cost of living, saying Nigerians are struggling to cope.

The resemblance between the man in the video and Dokubo led many users online to identify him as the activist, who is known to be a supporter of Tinubu.

Responding in a separate video, Dokubo dismissed the claims, stating that the individual is his brother, identified as Theophilus, from Bayelsa State.

“I’m not the one in the video. He is my brother, Theophilus. He is from Bayelsa State and I’m from Rivers State,” Dokubo said, noting that while they share similar features, they are from different communities.

He added that those insisting he appeared in the clip were motivated by personal bias against him.

Dokubo also reaffirmed his support for Tinubu, describing the president as his friend and maintaining that he should be allowed to complete his tenure.

The video continues to circulate online, drawing reactions and debate over Nigeria’s economic conditions and political leadership.
