“My Record Is Untarnished By Corruption” — Governor Uzodimma Declares

Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma has firmly asserted that his record of public service remains free from corruption. The governor made this declaration during his keynote address at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024, which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Thursday.

In his speech, Uzodimma highlighted the crucial role of integrity in public service, calling on fellow political leaders to adhere to ethical practices and avoid corruption. He attributed the widespread corruption in Nigeria to an “inordinate quest for wealth and lack of discipline” among those in power.

Delivering a lecture titled ‘Service Above Others: Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,’ Uzodimma urged contemporary leaders to draw inspiration from the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria. He suggested that emulating Okpara’s legacy could contribute to a more ethical and prosperous society.

Additionally, Uzodimma provided an update on the Egbema Power Plant rehabilitation project, a major infrastructure initiative in Imo State. He revealed that the project, essential for achieving 24-hour electricity in the state, is expected to be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2025.
