Mother Killed, Three Children Injured in Tragic Accident as Vehicle Plows Into Shop in Lagos

In a devastating incident in the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos state, a mother lost her life as a vehicle veered off course and crashed into her shop. The tragic accident, which unfolded on Friday, also left three of the victim’s children wounded.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, the victim, identified as Ngozi, aged 40, was vending groundnuts at the time of the collision.

Hundeyin stated in a release on Sunday, “There occurred a fatal motor/pedestrian accident involving a Mercedes Benz C350 car driven by one 22-year-old man (name withheld) and pedestrians.”

“The victims— one Ngozi, 40, her three children ages 16, 14, and 13 respectively,” Hundeyin continued. “The driver was said to have lost control of his car while coming from Igbogbo, heading towards Ebute, and hit the said Ngozi and her three children.”

He further elaborated, “They were said to be selling groundnut at the scene of the incident. As a result of the accident, the victims sustained different degrees of injuries.”

Prompt medical attention was provided as Hundeyin mentioned, “They were all rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital by the police, where the mother was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, while her three children were admitted for medical treatment.”

The spokesperson disclosed that the deceased woman’s body had been taken to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy procedures. Meanwhile, the driver involved in the accident is currently in police custody as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
