Minimum Wage: NYSC Clears Air on Payment of N70,000 to Corps Members
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a statement addressing recent social media claims regarding an increase in corps members’ allowances to N70,000. According to Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations, these claims are inaccurate.
The NYSC has confirmed that there has been no official directive or decision to raise the minimum wage to N70,000 or to upgrade the bank accounts of corps members to facilitate this change.
“This information is completely false and not based on any official source,” Megwa stated. He further emphasized that the NYSC has not received any communication from the relevant government authorities concerning wage adjustments.
The NYSC urges corps members, their families, and the public to disregard such misleading reports and to rely on official channels for accurate information. The organization also cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading unauthorized statements about the NYSC’s operations.
