“Master Defector Now Suffering Political Amnesia,” APC Slams Peter Obi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has launched a scathing attack on Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a “master defector now suffering political amnesia.”

Reacting to Obi’s claim that “nobody can capture the Southeast with defections,” APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo said the comment was “long on drama but short on logic,” dismissing it as a desperate attempt by Obi to remain relevant in a Nigeria that has “moved on from empty populism.”

Oladejo mocked the former Anambra governor for pretending to lecture others about loyalty, calling him “the undisputed master defector in Nigerian politics.” He reminded Nigerians that Obi had moved from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), then to the Labour Party (LP), and was “already in the political marketplace shopping for yet another platform before 2027.”

“Suddenly, the serial defector is suffering selective amnesia when discussing others’ political moves. He conveniently forgets his entire career has been built on defection, opportunism, and expediency. If there were a trophy for political cross-carpeting, Obi would be its unchallenged winner,” Oladejo declared.

The APC also rubbished Obi’s suggestion that the party was trying to capture the Southeast, insisting the region was “voluntarily aligning with the national mainstream.” Oladejo said Nigerians were rejecting “emotional blackmail, divisive rhetoric, and politics of victimhood,” choosing instead to embrace inclusion, development, and progress under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Power is not served à la carte,” the APC spokesman said. “It is earned through structure, consistency, and the ability to build bridges across the federation – all of which Obi sorely lacks.”

Oladejo added that Obi’s “politics of isolation and sanctimony” had lost steam and that the former governor now stands “politically stranded, abandoned by allies, weakened by reality, and walking alone in a wilderness of his own making.”
