Many IPOB Terrorists Killed in Imo – Police
The Imo State Police Command has confirmed that a joint security operation has killed several members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in different parts of the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye said in a statement that the coordinated operation involved the police, the military, and the Department of State Services (DSS). He disclosed that the security team successfully dismantled several identified camps belonging to the separatist group in Ezioha, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, as well as Umuele, Ubuakpu, and Amakor in Njaba Local Government Area.
According to Okoye, many of the fighters were neutralised during the raids, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Some suspects were arrested for further investigation. He added that security operatives recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the camps, as well as improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were later detonated by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
Okoye said commanders of the security agencies involved in the operation reiterated their commitment to restoring law and order across the affected communities and urged residents to support ongoing efforts by cooperating with law enforcement.
