Many Canadians Want Canada to Become the 51st US State – Trump
Donald Trump, the US President-elect, has suggested that Canada could become the 51st state of the United States. In a post on his Truth Social account on Wednesday, Trump claimed that many Canadians support the idea due to the ongoing political turmoil in Ottawa. He emphasized that Canada would greatly benefit from lower taxes and enhanced military protection if it were to join the US.
Trump’s comments echo a previous suggestion made in November, when he proposed that merging the two countries could address his concerns about fentanyl trafficking and illegal immigration, issues he has linked to the US southern border. During a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump reportedly discussed the idea with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
