The suspect accused of opening fire at a Washington media gala attended by President Donald Trump is set to be arraigned in the US capital on Monday, federal prosecutors have confirmed.
Authorities said the suspect, who reportedly exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents during the incident, was not injured and was taken into custody.
US Attorney Jeanine Piro said the suspect will appear before a US District Judge on Monday to face federal charges, including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.
The shooting, which unfolded during the high-profile event attended by President Trump, prompted a swift response from law enforcement and heightened security concerns. Investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack are ongoing.
